The sky has been grey for months. A cycle is failing. Things from outside the world have begun reaching in. People are still living below all of this. Most of them.

You are one of those people. A few minutes ago you were walking somewhere. The ground gave way under you. What you do next is up to you.

What to expect

• ~30–60 minutes one of the easier exits. Multiple days/hours for the harder ones that may require a couple of full playthroughs
• Click-to-play and parser input both work. The parser handles 30+ verbs (look, examine, take, north, inventory, etc.).
• Twenty prophecy fragments scattered through the dark — canonical text from the unpublished novel cycle, lifted directly from the books.
• Permadeath. Auto-save every turn. Undo the last turn. Undo after most deaths has been removed. It made multiple endings trivial.
• Ambient sound. Hint button. Mobile-friendly.

The four named endings

Of ten ways out, four are still unnamed.

A watcher. A fire. A becoming. A god.

The first reader to reach each one names a character in the books. The first ten readers of each ending preread the unpublished cycle in a private circle the author keeps for those who descended far enough.

If you reach a named ending, your claim ID appears in the post-game funnel. Submit it at aurelonuniverse.com/witness.

Every proposed name is read by the author before it enters canon. Names submitted as a joke, crass, or off-tone will not be kept. Please submit a name that fits the world
